How do I update the Sender ID for text messages

Question

How do I update the Sender ID that displays as the sender for outgoing text messages sent from NowInfinity?

Answer

The Sender ID can be updated by navigating to Menu > Portal Settings > Text Messages.

Options for setting up your sender ID are:

A test message can be sent by following Testing the sender ID.

Note:

  • Messages sent using "Alphanumeric sender ID" will be charged by ClickSend at your plan's rate.
  • Messages sent using "Mobile Number" or "ClickSend-assigned number" incur no charge.

 

Mobile Number

Note: You will need to have access to the mobile number being registered.

  1. Navigate to Menu > Portal Settings > Text Messages.
  2. Select "Mobile Number"

  3. Enter the mobile number to use as the Sender ID
    Note: If a different mobile had been previously registered, first select "Set up new mobile sender ID"
  4. Select "Register"

  5. Enter the verification code sent to the mobile number entered
  6. Select "Verify"
    Note: verification code will be valid for 60 seconds. Select "Resend Code" if required.

Alphanumeric sender ID

Prior to connecting your Alphanumeric sender ID you must have:

  1. Navigate to Menu > Portal Settings > Text Messages.
  2. Select "Alphanumeric sender ID"

  3. Enter your ClickSend username (email address) and API key
  4. Select "Connect to ClickSend"
  5. Select the registered Sender ID to use from the "Registered sender ID" dropdown

To disconnect your Alphanumeric sender ID, select "Disconnect ClickSend".

 

ClickSend-assigned number (default)

Note: Outgoing text messages will not consistently be sent from the same number when using the ClickSend-assigned number.

  1. Navigate to Menu > Portal Settings > Text Message.
  2. Select "ClickSend-assigned number"

How to register an Alpha Tag with ClickSend

Note: you will be required to register with ClickSend even if you have previously registered with another provider.

  1. Log into your ClickSend account
  2. Within ClickSend, navigate to Sender IDs > Manage Senders > Alpha Tags
  3. Select "Add" from the right of the Alpha Tags tab

  4. Complete the fields "Sending to", "Alpha Tag", and "Your Use Case", then select "Register Alpha Tag"
  5. Select response to "Which business will this Alpha Tag be linked to?"

  6. Follow prompts through to "Your Alpha Tag"
  7. Enter your Alpha Tag and respond to the declaration checkboxes, then select "Next"

  8. Enter the requested business information, then select "Next"
  9. Enter the contact details of the Business Representative, then select "Next"
    Note: email address must be valid as the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) instructions will be sent to the provided email address.
  10. Select "Submit"
  11. ClickSend will then review and submit the application to the ACMA

Testing the sender ID

  1. Ensure a valid mobile number is linked to your user account
    Note: this can be updated by following How to add, edit or remove a User
  2. Navigate to Menu > Portal Settings > Text Messages.
  3. Select "Test"

  4. A sample text message will be sent via the selected sender ID.
