Sender ID updates: FAQs

Question: Why are NowInfinity no longer offering Alpha Tags via NowInfinity's SMS account?

Answer: Under the new regulations, continuing to offer Alpha Tags in messages sent directly by NowInfinity would require us to register as a telecommunications provider. This would introduce ongoing reporting and monitoring obligations to ACMA that are not aligned with our business.

For clients who wish to continue using Alpha Tags, we recommend registering directly with ClickSend, which provides a cost-effective and streamlined solution.

Question: How long does Alpha Tag registration take?
Answer: Typically, registration is completed within 24 hours after responding to ACMA. Delays may occur if responses are not submitted promptly or during peak periods (e.g. near regulatory deadlines).

Qustion: What can delay my registration?
Answer: The most common delay is not responding to ACMA’s confirmation email. This email may go to your junk or spam folder, and ACMA does not send follow-ups.

Question: Can I use an Alpha Tag already registered with another provider?
Answer: Yes, but you will still need to:

  • Create a ClickSend account
  • Add your registered Alpha Tag within ClickSend
  • Connect your ClickSend account to NowInfinity

Question: Can I use my mobile number or another dedicated mobile number as the sender ID instead?
Answer: Yes, you can use a mobile number as the sender ID. Messages sent from your account will reflect that number to recipients.

Question: When will OTP be available for mobile sender IDs?
Answer: This is also in progress. We will share updates once confirmed.

Question: What happens if I don't enter anything into the Sender ID field?

Answer: If no custom Sender ID is entered, a shared mobile number provided by ClickSend will be used to continue sending your SMS reminders.

Question: I am a PAYG customer, do these changes impact me also?
