Important Update: Enhancements to SMS Sender ID

We’re introducing improvements to how SMS messages are sent from NowInfinity, in line with new Australian regulations coming into effect on 1 July 2026.

These industry-wide changes are designed to reduce SMS impersonation scams and give businesses greater control over how their identity appears in messages sent to clients.

As part of this initiative, businesses using an alphanumeric Sender ID (“Alpha Tag”, such as their firm name) will be able to register and verify their Sender ID via a national SMS Sender ID Register.

This helps ensure your messages are:

  • Recognised as coming from your business
  • Less likely to be flagged as suspicious or blocked
  • Trusted by clients, with improved delivery reliability

What’s changing in NowInfinity?

Previously:

  • Alpha Tags (e.g. your firm name) could be used via NowInfinity’s shared SMS account
  • If no Sender ID was set, messages were sent using the default “CorpServices” Alpha Tag

From 1 July 2026:

  • Verified Alpha Tags must be sent via your own registered SMS account with ClickSend
  • The default “CorpServices” Sender ID will be removed
  • If no custom Sender ID is set, SMS messages will be sent from a shared number

Your options

You can now choose to:

  • Continue sending messages from a dedicated mobile number using NowInfinity’s free SMS service, or
  • Register and manage your own branded Sender ID for greater control and consistency

Option 1: Use a dedicated mobile number

Using a mobile number as your Sender ID removes the need for registration and supports reliable delivery.

Benefits:

  • Reliable message delivery
  • Clients can save your number
  • Familiar numbers can improve trust and recognition

How to set up: Add a mobile number in:
Menu > Portal Settings > Text Messages > Sender ID

From 1 July 2026, mobile numbers will require verification via a one-time password (OTP) to confirm the number is active.

We’ll notify you when this verification step becomes available and provide guidance on how to complete it.

Until your number is verified, a shared number will be used to ensure SMS messages continue to send.

Option 2: Register your Alpha Tag with ClickSend

You can continue using your firm name as the Sender ID by registering it through our SMS provider, ClickSend.

Benefits:

  • Your business name appears as the sender
  • Improved client recognition and trust
  • Ability to use the same Sender ID across multiple platforms
  • Greater ownership and control of your messaging identity

Once registered, your Alpha Tag will be verified and less likely to be flagged by recipient networks.

How to set up:

  • Create a ClickSend account using the referral link to receive a special discounted rate on your SMS
  • Register your Alpha Tag via the ClickSend dashboard
  • ClickSend will submit your registration to ACMA on your behalf
  • Once registered, connect your ClickSend account in:
Menu > Portal Settings > Text Messages

This integration will be available in NowInfinity soon. We’ll share more details once released.

Note: SMS charges will be billed directly by ClickSend based on your selected plan.

If your Alpha Tag is not registered by 30 June 2026, we recommend switching to a dedicated mobile number (Option 1) to avoid disruption. Otherwise, SMS messages will be sent from a shared number.

What happens if no action is taken?

From 30 June 2026:

  • Unregistered Alpha Tags will be removed from NowInfinity
  • If no Sender ID is set, messages will be sent from a shared number. This number may vary between messages
