Name Format - Officer Name Issue

Question

Why does a Company Profile have an "Officer Name Issue" error?

Answer

This error appears when the name on the profile appears to be incorrect in format. Format relates to the structure of the name.

If the Company is registered outside of NowInfinity and the current information does not meet the EDGE Protocol requirements, then a red "Officer Name Issue" banner will appear on the Company profile.

If the name format meets the requirements, the name discrepancy can be raised to ASIC on the agent's behalf by NowInfinity Support.
If the name does not meet the Edge requirements, the agent or end-client would need to contact ASIC directly to fix the name.

ASIC Validation Rules

The validation rules and character limits (max characters accepted for names in EDGE) applied to names by ASIC are as follows:

  • Last name - mandatory, max length 30 characters
  • First given name - mandatory, max length 20 characters
  • Second given name - optional, max length 20 characters
  • Third given name (which is considered as a middle name) - optional, max length 20 characters

ASIC accepts spaces in any of the above names, however EDGE protocol does not accept spaces in the first name. Therefore NowInfinity forms will not allow spaces in first name fields.

If the individual was appointed through ASIC, with a space in their first name, as there are limitations within EDGE when finding names if they have spaces, so from time to time, a lodgement may be rejected if the name can't be found in EDGE at a later stage, eg for a cessation or change of address of that Officer.
