Why has the form been rejected if Scotland is a valid country of birth?

Question

When entering a Director's place of birth as Scotland, the form is rejected by ASIC when lodged through EDGE. Why has this occurred, and how can this be fixed?

Answer

Although when lodging directly with ASIC, Scotland may be accepted as a valid country of birth, when using EDGE Protocol, "Scotland" is not accepted. This is due to the ISO country name and code. To proceed with lodgement, use "United Kingdom" instead of "Scotland" as the country of birth.
